- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
- 2/3 cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

- Add flour, salt, and melted butter; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
- Divide dough into small pieces and roll into bite-sized balls.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bring 8 cups of water to a boil with baking soda.
- Carefully drop pretzel bites into boiling water for 30 seconds each, then remove with a slotted spoon.
- Place bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven, brush with melted butter, and serve warm.
Notes
- Ensure water is warm, not hot, to activate yeast properly.
- Stir the baking soda thoroughly for the boiling step.
- Try adding cheese or herbs for variation.
